Monotype printmaking is simple to do and the finished artwork you will produce is extremely rewarding. You will gain an understanding of the process that has become on of the most popular printmaking techniques including ink mixing, additive/subtractive applications, stencils/templates, working the “ghost” image, plate and paper registration, and contact or trace monotype. This workshop is suited to all levels of experience.

Engraven Imagery Class Workshop

Series of 5 workshops, every Friday from January 11 - February 8th

If you are looking for a fresh new way to combine digital images, distressed wax layers, and colorants to produce intriguing fine art collages this hands-on workshop is for you. We will be working on cold press watercolor paper and adding a carefully composed photo collage. The collage is then waxed and incised layer by layer to create a complex and cohesive artwork. Walnut ink, metal leaf, and oil sticks are used to emphasize the engraved and scratched marks. This workshop is suited to all levels of experience.

Cold Wax: Beginners to Intermediate

Series of 4 workshops, every Wednesday from April 10th - May 1st

A demo hands-on experience with cold wax medium. Cold wax medium is a beeswax paste used at room temperature with oil paints, no fusing with heat is required. Basic tools, surfaces and techniques will be explored. The use of pigment sticks along with cold wax and oil paint will be discussed. We will begin each day with a wet on wet painting on oil paper and progress to painting with layers on board. This workshop. Is suited for beginners and those with experience with cold wax.

Introduction to Cold Wax

A demo and hands-on experience with cold wax medium.

Cold wax medium is a beeswax paste used at room temperature with oil paints, no fusing with heat is required. Basic materials, tools, surfaces and techniques will be explored. The use of pigment sticks along with cold wax and oils will be included. After a demo by the instructor participants will work independently. This workshop is recommended for beginners and experienced painters interested in learning this exciting medium.
