Dia de los Muertos: Oaxaca I

My latest work Dia de los Muertos: Oaxaca, is a a series of paintings that celebrate the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead. Dia de los Muertos is not Halloween in Mexico, it is a two day event that honors life. The holiday is awash with  color and joyous activities with great homage to the ancestors. Symbolic meanings abound including marigolds to honor the souls who have past and the orchids to honor the children who have past. During the day of the dead all souls return to earth to celebrate.
